Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, also known as Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, is a protected area located near Kothamangalam, approximately 60 km from Kochi. Established in 1983 and named after the renowned ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali, the sanctuary is one of India's most important bird-watching destinations. Spread across 25 square kilometers, it is home to over 300 species of birds, including rare and endemic species, making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts, nature lovers, and wildlife photographers.
