Buddha Statue of Hyderabad is a massive monolithic statue of Lord Buddha located on an island in the middle of Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad, Telangana. The statue stands 18 meters (58 feet) tall and weighs approximately 350 tons, making it one of the largest monolithic Buddha statues in the world. The statue was installed in 1992 and has since become one of the most iconic landmarks of Hyderabad. The statue is accessible by boat and serves as a symbol of peace and tranquility, attracting visitors from across the city and beyond.
The Buddha statue was commissioned by N. T. Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and was carved from a single piece of white granite. The statue was transported to Hyderabad and installed on the island in Hussain Sagar Lake. The installation of the statue was a significant event, and it has since become an integral part of Hyderabad's cultural and tourist landscape. The statue represents the universal message of peace and harmony associated with Buddhism.
