Mecca Masjid is one of the oldest and largest mosques in Hyderabad, Telangana, located near the iconic Charminar in the old city area. Construction of the mosque began in 1614 during the reign of Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth Qutb Shahi ruler, and was completed in 1694 by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The mosque derives its name from the bricks used in its central arch, which were brought from Mecca, the holiest city in Islam. The mosque can accommodate up to 10,000 worshippers and is an important religious and architectural landmark in Hyderabad.
