Amber Fort, also known as Amer Fort, is a magnificent fortification located in Amer, approximately 11 km from Jaipur. Built in the 16th century by Raja Man Singh I, the fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited tourist attractions in Rajasthan. The fort showcases a blend of Hindu and Mughal architectural styles, with its grand palaces, courtyards, and intricate carvings. Perched on a hilltop overlooking Maota Lake, Amber Fort offers stunning views and represents the rich cultural heritage of the Rajput dynasty.
Amber Fort was constructed in 1592 by Raja Man Singh I, a trusted general of Mughal Emperor Akbar. The fort served as the main residence of the Rajput Maharajas and their families until Jaipur was established as the new capital. Over the centuries, successive rulers expanded and embellished the fort, adding palaces, temples, and gardens. The fort complex reflects the opulence and architectural brilliance of the Rajput era.
