Jal Mahal, also known as the Water Palace, is a stunning architectural marvel located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur. Built in the 18th century by Maharaja Madho Singh I, the palace appears to float on the water, creating a mesmerizing sight. The five-story palace has four floors submerged underwater, with only the top floor visible above the lake surface. Jal Mahal is renowned for its Rajput and Mughal architectural styles, beautiful gardens, and the reflection of the Aravalli Hills in the lake waters.
Jal Mahal was constructed in the 18th century by Maharaja Madho Singh I as a royal lodge for duck hunting and as a summer retreat. The palace was later renovated by Maharaja Jai Singh II. The structure was built in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, which was created by damming the Darbhavati River. The palace served as a venue for royal parties and celebrations.
