Jaigarh Fort is a formidable fortification located on the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) in the Aravalli Range, overlooking Amber Fort and Maota Lake. Built in 1726 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, the fort was constructed to protect Amber Fort and the city of Jaipur. The fort is famous for housing the world's largest cannon on wheels, Jaivana, and offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Unlike other forts in the region, Jaigarh Fort was never conquered and remains remarkably well-preserved.
Jaigarh Fort was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1726 as a defensive structure to protect Amber Fort and the surrounding area. The fort was named after Jai Singh II himself and served as a military stronghold. It was designed to store weapons, ammunition, and other military equipment. The fort's strategic location on a hilltop provided excellent vantage points for defense and surveillance.
