Marina Lighthouse, also known as the Chennai Lighthouse, is a prominent landmark situated on Marina Beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Standing at approximately 46 meters (151 feet) tall, this triangular cylindrical concrete tower was commissioned in 1977, replacing earlier lighthouses that had served the city since the 18th century. The lighthouse is notable for being one of the few lighthouses worldwide equipped with an elevator and is the only one in India located within city limits. After being closed to the public for several years, the lighthouse reopened on November 16, 2013, offering visitors panoramic views of Marina Beach and the Bay of Bengal from its viewing gallery.
